ABOUT BORG

We are a group of volunteers based in Aylesbury and have been operating for over 20 years. We have boxes across Buckinghamshire which we oversee in partnership with landowners.

THE BIRDS

We monitor Barn Owls, Kestrels, Tawny Owls & Little Owls. These owls and raptors normally nest in holes in trees and readily take up occupancy in the boxes we erect.

VOLUNTEERS

The group is run entirely by volunteers and we are always seeking new members. If you have some spare time and would like to get involved give us a call

Promoting owl and raptor conservation across Buckinghamshire.

  • About BORG

We are a group of volunteers based in Aylesbury and have been operating for over 20 years. We have a network of boxes across Buckinghamshire which we manage and monitor in partnership with landowners.
BORG evolved in 2012 from a project set up by Aylesbury Vale District Council. The group is completely independent and run entirely by volunteers. We build, position and manage owl and raptor nest boxes, this is done in partnership with landowners. Once erected the boxes are monitored and maintained on a regular basis. Over 600 Owl and Kestrel boxes have been erected by volunteers. Birds that take up occupancy of these boxes undergo further monitoring by the volunteers. This monitoring forms part of a national recording scheme managed by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).
We work with landowners to help promote a healthy environment for owls and raptors. The relationship with AVDC Biodiversity Department enables landowners to tap into small amounts of funds to help with this habitat enhancement.

  • Our Mission

The Bucks Owl Raptor Group exists to further the interests of Owl and Kestrel  conservation within Buckinghamshire. We do this through recording, monitoring, educational work, practical conservation and provision of advice. We work closely with other birding groups and under the guidance of the British Trust for Ornithology.

Postcode Local Trust is a grant - giving charity funded entirely by players of People's Postcode Lottery. BORG has received £2000 from the trust which will help us with our much needed winter box repair programme as well as being able to invest in some promotional materials to help raise awareness of the group. The group would like to thank the players of the postcode lottery for their support and have pleasure in including this LINK to the People's Postcode Lottery website for further information on how to play and support more charities.
